This work explores the beauty and vibrancy of Caribbean flora through the delicate form of the hibiscus flower. Printed onto silk using acrylic paint and a silk screen.
These pieces seek to capture the essence of flowers in bloom while allowing the luminous, tactile quality of the fabric to become part of the work itself.
Developed at East London Printmakers, the process embraces the unpredictability of screen printing. Each layer can introduce unexpected shifts in colour, texture and form, creating variations that cannot be completely controlled. This balance between intention and chance mirrors the organic nature of the flowers, allowing the final image to unfold through the making process.
